Your payments are protected

Step partners with Stripe, one of the world's leading payment processors, to handle all transactions. Stripe processes hundreds of billions of dollars annually for millions of businesses, including many you probably use every day.

• Encrypted transactions: Your card details are encrypted and never stored on our servers.
• Fraud protection: Advanced machine learning detects and prevents fraudulent activity.

We never see or store your full card number. When you save a payment method, Stripe securely stores your information so you can check out faster next time.

For dancers: Buying tickets and classes

Purchasing on Step is straightforward:

1. Find your event: Browse events near you or search for specific congresses, socials, or workshops.
2. Select your tickets: Choose your ticket type and quantity. Some events offer different tiers or early bird pricing.
3. Checkout securely: Pay with your preferred method. Your payment is processed instantly through Stripe.
4. Get your tickets: Tickets appear immediately in Step. Show your QR code at the door, no printing needed.

Private classes are offered by talent booked at events. This is a safety measure that ensures you're learning from verified instructors. Book and pay securely through the app.

Fees and pricing

We believe in transparent, fair pricing. Here's how fees work on Step:

• No platform fees for organizers: we don't take a cut from what you earn. Fees are added at checkout and paid by the buyer.
• Buyer pays: a 2.8% Step fee is added at checkout.
• Organizer pays: payment processing fees are deducted from payouts, depending on the payout method you connect (Stripe, PayPal, or Wise).
• Free events: listing free events costs nothing.

For organizers: Getting paid

Receiving payments as an organizer is simple and transparent:

How it works:

1. No platform fees for organizers: We don't take a cut from what you earn. Fees are added at checkout and paid by the buyer.
2. Buyer pays: A 2.8% Step fee is added at checkout.
3. Organizer pays: Stripe processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) are deducted from payouts.
4. Predictable payouts: your earnings are released after your event wraps and its refund window closes, then paid out on the weekly run. Established organizers can unlock part of their sales before the event.

Multi-currency support

Dance is global, and so is Step. You pay in your own currency, the organizer gets paid in theirs, and the exchange happens automatically in between.

You always see the exact amount and currency before you confirm, so there are no surprise conversions on your statement.

Refunds and disputes

Life happens. Every organizer picks a refund policy for their event, from fully flexible to non-refundable, and it's shown before you buy. If the policy allows a refund in your situation, you claim it yourself from the ticket in the app and the money returns to your original payment method.

If an event is cancelled by the organizer, you'll receive a full refund automatically. For other situations, see the full Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Your data stays yours

We only share the minimum information needed to process your payment. Stripe handles your payment details directly. We never see your full card number.

For event tickets, organizers receive your name and email so they can send event updates and verify your ticket at check-in. That's it. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
