Refund & Cancellation Policy

April 15, 2026

Step is a platform that connects dancers with event organizers. This policy explains how refunds and cancellations work and what you can expect.

Understanding our role

Step is a ticketing and discovery platform—we connect dancers with events and facilitate ticket purchases through secure payment processing. We do not currently handle refunds directly in the case of event cancellations.

Refunds are the responsibility of the event organizer. When you purchase a ticket, your transaction is with the organizer, and any refund requests must go through them.

Event ticket refunds

Here's what you need to know about refunds for event tickets:

  • Refunds are at the organizer's discretion: Each organizer sets their own refund policy, which is displayed on the event page before you purchase. Some events offer refunds, others do not—always check before buying.
  • Contact the organizer directly: If you need a refund, reach out to the event organizer. You can find their contact information on the event page.
  • Cancelled events: Organizers who use Step commit to refunding dancers if they cancel an event. This is a requirement for using our platform.

How we protect dancers

While we don't process refunds ourselves, we take steps to protect our community:

  • Organizer commitments: When organizers create events on Step, they agree to honor refunds if they cancel their event.
  • Accountability: Organizers who fail to refund dancers after cancelling an event will have their accounts flagged and may lose the ability to create future events on our platform.
  • Transparency: We encourage organizers to clearly state their refund policies so you know what to expect before purchasing.

Private class cancellations

Private classes on Step are offered exclusively by talent who are booked at events. This helps ensure a safe and verified experience for everyone.

Cancellation and refund terms for private classes are set by the individual instructor. Contact the instructor directly if you need to cancel or request a refund.

What to do if you have an issue

  • First, contact the organizer: They are responsible for refunds and should be your first point of contact.
  • If the organizer is unresponsive: You can reach out to us and we'll do our best to help facilitate communication. However, we cannot force an organizer to issue a refund.
  • Report bad actors: If an organizer cancels an event and refuses to refund ticket holders, please let us know. We take this seriously and will take appropriate action on their account.

For organizers

If you're an organizer using Step, you're expected to:

  • Clearly communicate your refund policy on your event page.
  • Respond to refund requests from dancers in a timely manner.
  • Honor refunds if you cancel your event—this is required.

Failure to refund dancers after cancelling an event may result in your account being flagged and your ability to create events being revoked.
