Step is a marketplace for dance events. Money moves between dancers and organizers. That only works if people trust the rails. This page explains the principles we build around: who handles card data, when paid sales go live for a new organizer, and how we respond when something looks wrong.
We do not publish the full map of every check, threshold, or internal process. Attackers read public pages too. What follows is what you should expect as a dancer, organizer, or partner.
Card payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We never see or store your full card number on WeDance servers. When you save a payment method, Stripe holds the token so checkout can be faster next time.
For methods, fees, refunds, and how money moves after a sale, see how payments work and how payouts work.
Anyone can list free events and build a page. Selling paid tickets or store items requires a connected payout method (Stripe, PayPal, or Wise). When you first connect a payout method, we take a short time to verify that the organizer account looks authentic.
This protects dancers from bad actors and protects organizers from being used as cover for fraud. We never ask you to email passwords, bank secrets, or one-time codes to speed verification up.
Organizers: more detail on for organizers.
Sign-in is passwordless by design where possible: email magic links and major social providers (including Apple and Google). Sessions can be reviewed and revoked from your account so a lost device does not keep permanent access.
Growth without safety loses the demand side. We invest in moderation, reporting, and account controls so the community can flag abuse, spam, and harmful content. Age-sensitive features stay gated where the law and common sense require it.
Rules of the road live in our acceptable use policy and terms of service.
We collect what we need to run Step: account details, event and ticket data, and product analytics when you consent. Payment card numbers stay with Stripe. For what we store, how long, and your choices, read the privacy policy and cookies policy.
WeDance, LLC carries technology and cyber insurance through Embroker as part of running a payments-enabled platform. Coverage status and how to request a certificate are on our insurance page.
If you see a suspicious event, an organizer you do not trust, an unexpected charge, or a message that claims to be from us but feels off, contact us right away. Include event links, screenshots, and order IDs when you have them.
Security is continuous work, not a badge. We improve controls as Step grows, without publishing a playbook for abusing them.
